Ghee and Digestion

Ghee is an essential part of a traditional Ayurvedic diet. Ghee is considered as a digestive, helping to improve digestion without creating too much heat or acid. 

You are what you digest

You may have heard the phrase, “you are what you eat.” In Ayurveda the phrase is “you are what you digest.” No matter what we consume, we cannot derive benefits from it unless we fully digest and transform the substance, and also fully release the waste products (ama). This digestive capacity is known as Agni. Along with ghee, many Ayurvedic herbs and spices, as well as practices such as aligning our meals with the rhythm of the day, help regulate and support healthy, balanced digestion.
